Documentary work is an essential part of my practice as a filmmaker. I’m particularly drawn to engaged stories and subjects, using an intimate and visual approach to explore people, realities and social issues.
2025
Famille Choisie
Massie, Addi, Lylybeth and Joy are four non-binary artists at a turning point in their careers on Brussels’ vibrant drag scene. Whilst this chosen family is close-knit and supportive, their biological families often struggle to understand their identities and their profession. Many truths and emotions remain unspoken.
Their shows – sometimes very funny, sometimes very dark, often both – draw direct inspiration from their daily struggles. The stage allows them to express their gender identities. It is also their livelihood and the place where they draw the energy to forge a path in our society.
Through a series of increasingly notable performances, a quest for identity and artistic recognition is taking shape. These artists aspire to something fundamental: the need to embrace who they are and, above all, to be accepted for who they are.
2022
Le cri des coquelicots
Their names are Fatima, Joanna, Valérie, Sarah, Carole, Sandrine, Lisa, Christel and Renata: Brussels residents living in precarious circumstances. They are women, (former) drug users, sometimes mothers, sex workers and/or (former) prisoners. Their living conditions expose them to violence on the streets and multiple forms of discrimination. This discrimination stems from a patriarchal, capitalist, classist and racist system, from repressive and punitive drug laws, and from a lack of political will to tackle rising precariousness. When their voices are not reduced to stereotypes, they are most often rendered invisible. Yet these women have a great deal to say and to demonstrate. We must move beyond clichés and sensationalism to highlight their strength, resilience and solidarity.
2020
Les Nouvelles Guérillères
Demonstrating, sticking political messages in the streets, organizing bike rides in the city, decolonizing mentalities through art ... Alone or in groups, these women* activists fight in their own way gender inequalities, sexism and racism in the urban space. They denounce the ambient patriarchy and propose solutions for another egalitarian living together. A fourth feminist wave is seizing Brussels so that no sister will ever be left alone in the public space again.
